About the event

The Dauphin County Master Gardeners is hosting this event to highlight one of their beautiful demonstration gardens that they have been working on. Over the last few years, you may have noticed Schaffner (Borough) Park looks different around the Gazebo. The Master Gardeners worked hard to remove the large shrubs that were overtaking the area, and have planted a vast array of beautiful flowers. The flowers enhance the entrance to the park.

At this event, there will be music performances, food, and door prizes throughout the event. This is a great chance to engage in the community, socialize and learn more about the Master Gardener's work.

This event also offers historical relevance because the legacy of Judge Schaffner will be preserved with the addition of a QR code plaque in the front of his monument. The park is named after Judge Herbert A. Schaffner, so the Master Gardeners wanted to building in an interactive way to share this piece of history with the town. There will be five speakers throughout the day, the same five who will be featured on the QR code, telling us first-hand accounts of events the Judge accomplished. These speakers feature his wife, adult children, and others who knew him well.
